January 2009

  Dear Parents,

During the month of January, the children will be very busy.  The Home-School Executive Board has planned the pajama party for the girls and boys’ night for the boys.  I know the children are looking forward to both special events.

The children in grades 1 to 8 will begin preparing for Mid-Term Exams.  The second quarter ends on Friday, January 30th.  Shortly after the quarter ends, report cards will be sent home.

Catholic Schools Week begins on Sunday, January 25th.  This year, Fr. Matthew will celebrate the 9:30 a.m. Mass for all the children and their families.  In keeping with the theme “Celebrate Service”, all grades will collect hats, scarves and gloves for the less fortunate men and women in the South Bronx.  The sisters in our convent will distribute everything donated by the children.  This project will be spear-headed by the eighth grade.  Let’s all lend a helping hand.  In addition, I will be sending home a letter with all the Catholic Schools Week activities.

Even though January is typically a cold and bleak month of the year, at St. Francis Xavier School it’s warm and fun!

Happy New Year,,
Mrs. Deegan
